One Family, founded in 1972 as Cherish, offers support, information and services to people parenting alone, sharing parenting and separating, and their children; to those experiencing an unplanned pregnancy; and to those working with one-parent families.

We are recruiting a part time Helpline worker for Askonefamily, the national lo-call helpline service for people parenting alone, sharing parenting, separating and the professionals working with them.  The service provides information on: social welfare entitlements and issues, family law issues, housing, health, education, finances, childcare, parenting and community supports. We also offer a friendly, non-judgemental and non-directive listening ear to parents who may be experiencing stress or difficulties in their family life and relationships.

The Helpline Worker will provide information and listening support to those who contact the service via the helpline, email and on social media. The aim is to assist those who contact the service in finding their own resolution to issues affecting them through the provision of information and emotional support.

Person Specification – you must

  • Have exceptional listening skills
  • Have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Have experience and understanding of social media engagement and how to answer social media queries
  • Have interest in and experience of working with a socially excluded client group
  • Have a client-focussed perspective
  • Have strong administration and ICT skills
  • Have experience of producing written literature for on-line communication
  • Be enthusiastic and motivated
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team
  • Be well-organised with good attention to detail.

Although not essential, ideal candidates would also:

  • Have a third level qualification or relevant training
  • Have experience of helpline work
  • Have experience of information provision
  • Have experience of working in the Irish voluntary/community sector.

Responsibilities

  • To actively listen and provide emotional support in a non-directive and accepting way by telephone
  • To meet the information needs of those contacting the service by phone and via social media
  • To have the discretion, judgement and writing skills to answer social media queries for information and support in a sensitive manner
  • To receive calls during the designated helpline times and follow up any calls as necessary
  • To respond to email and social media requests for information and support
  • To accurately and fully complete all necessary records (including call log) after each helpline call
  • To research and collate details of community supports and services that may be relevant to the needs of one parent families
  • To keep up to date with relevant issues and changes to ensure accurate information provision
  • Input helpline call log records and other data into the organisation database
  • To comply with all the policies and procedures of the organisation, paying particular attention to child protection and confidentiality
  • Attend any training, supervision and support as requested
  • To undertake other areas of work where necessary or as requested by the Information Manager.

The Helpline worker will be responsible to the Information Manager.

The service is located in Dublin 7. The post is for 1.5 days per week, during office hours, Monday to Friday. The full time (35 hours per week) salary scale is between €26,420 and €33,366; candidates will be remunerated according to skills and experience. Flexibility can be offered and is expected on when these hours are delivered.

Digital Marketing/Social Media Officer with One Family | October 2018

An exciting new role has arisen in our Communications Service. Working to the
Communications and Events Manager, the purpose of this part-time role is to actively assist with development of the digital marketing/social media strategy of One Family.

Person Specification – you must:

  • Enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Three to five years’ digital marketing experience, ideally gained in a Not for Profit environment.
  • Proven experience delivering engaging social media campaigns.
  • Knowledge and experience with a range of digital tools including video, social media, PPC, SEO, analytics tools.
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • A third-level qualification in Marketing and/or Digital Marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and execution of One Family’s digital marketing/social media strategy.
  • With an in-depth understanding of all aspects of digital and social media, you will help to manage our social media presence, as well as drive the expansion of new social platforms and manage our website from a content, maintenance and development point of view.
  • You will create content for video, e-newsletters, online fundraising and marketing collateral, campaign briefing and reports, web and social media, blogs and more.
  • Having an appreciation of branding, excellent writing skills and outstanding attention to detail, you will need to ensure that across the organisation our digital content is in line with brand guidelines.
  • With an understanding of CRO, Google Analytics, SEO, social media insights, online media, performance analysis, digital ad technologies and more, you will have the ability to develop, analyse, report and take action on digital statistics to increase conversion.
  • You will liaise with colleagues across the organisation to support the development and maintenance of content and schedule digital/social media communications.
  • End-to-end management of digital campaigns, promotions and initiatives, working broadly across the organisation.
  • To have the discretion, judgement and skills to answer social media queries in a supportive and sensitive manner.

The job description of the Digital Marketing/Social Media Officer is designed in response to a strategic planning process and is subject to change in line with the overall strategic goals of the organisation.

This is a part-time post of 2.5 days per week with an annual pro-rata salary of between €13-17K,  equivalent full-time rate for this role would be circa 26-33k. Candidates will be remunerated based on skills and experience. This post is subject to a six month probationary period, based in One Family’s offices in Dublin 7. Counsellors for the National Telephone Counselling Service for Crisis Pregnancy | October 2018

One Family is recruiting enthusiastic, experienced, professionally accredited counsellors for the new National Telephone Counselling Service for Crisis Pregnancy which we will deliver on behalf of the HSE Sexual Health and Crisis Pregnancy Programme. This is a new innovative service designed to support women and their families through the issues associated with crisis pregnancy across Ireland. The National Telephone Counselling Service will be provided in the context of abortion services being available in Ireland from 2019.

The ideal candidate will:

Counsellor role and responsibilities:

  • To deliver unplanned/crisis pregnancy counselling
  • To provide information on all options relevant to the caller’s needs including information on parenting, abortion, or adoption
  • To deliver post-abortion counselling
  • Maintain all quality/professional standards and codes of practice
  • Attend relevant internal and external supervisions and trainings
  • Maintain all relevant administration, monitoring information and data
  • Follow all policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines
  • To contribute to evaluations, policy, reports, funding applications etc as requested
  • To be line managed by the National Telephone Counselling Manager and take direction where appropriate on issues relating to clients
  • To maintain the high professional and ethical standard in provision of care to clients.

This is an out of hours and weekend service. The shift times will be of 4 hours duration from 5-9pm Tuesday to Friday and on Monday and Saturday mornings. These part-time positions will be for 4-5 shifts per week; additional hours of work may be needed so flexibility will be required.

The service will be located in Dublin 7.  The full time (35 hour week) salary scale is €39,311 – €42,799 for the level of skills required; the salary offered will be pro-rata for 16-2o hours, based on skills and experience.  The post will be for one year initially with the potential for continuation, subject to future funding.  Benefits such as paid annual leave and extensive training will be provided.

One Family, Ireland’s organisation for people parenting alone, sharing parenting, and separating, is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and caring Early Years professional to join our busy team.

Our Early Years Intervention Unit works with the youngest children, aged 0- 3 years, in the most disadvantaged and marginalised communities. We work to support parents and children to break the cycle of child poverty where it is most deeply entrenched and where children are most disadvantaged.

Early Years Professional Role

  • Provision of intensive care and early intervention for children 0-3 years of age.
  • Identifying children who live in families that may be at risk of running into difficulties and providing timely and effective support at this early stage in a child’s development that we know will improve their long term outcomes.
  • Identifying additional needs and planning for appropriate interventions.
  • Supporting and key working parents accessing the Intervention Unit.
  • Work with parents and children to build parental confidence and develop parenting skills, which in turn supports parents to ensure that their children’s physical, emotional and educational needs are met.

Person Specification

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working directly with children and parents.
  • Hold a qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care or Social Care (Award certificates dated 2015 or before).
  • Working knowledge of Aistear and Siolta.
  • Well organised with good attention to detail.
  • Be confident in Children First, Meitheal and Early Years Services Regulation 2016.
  • They will be self motivated and a good team player.
