We believe all families matter, and that individuals who feel cared for and supported by those around them – whether families or others in their lives – help to make stronger communities for us all. We know that families are not all the same. We like the UN definition of family which refers to “two or more people, bound together by mutual consent, birth and/or adoption or placement who together care for each other.”
#FamilyDay runs from May 13 – May 17 and builds on the work of Family Day Festival as we raise awareness of , and celebrate all types of family in Ireland today – one-parent families, step families, the traditional married family, adoptive and foster families, blended and extended families, those with opposite and same sex parents. We believe all families matter.
Taking part is really simple, all you need to do is:
• Draw a picture of your family (crayon, pencil, pen).• Take a photo of the picture.
• Share on social media, tag us with the hashtag #FamilyDay and be in with a chance to win some great prizes including a Family Day trip to Imaginsoity, family trip to Dublin Zoo and toy shop gift vouchers.
• We will collect all the images and make a collage to reflect the different types of families in Ireland today.
