Unplanned or crisis pregnancy

An unplanned or crisis pregnancy can be confusing, distressing and lonely. Sometimes a pregnancy can become a crisis, due to diagnosis of a foetal anomaly, which may require decisions like whether to terminate your pregnancy early or continue.

One Family offers a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space to discuss all the options open to you

Unplanned Pregnancy and Abortion

If the decision following unplanned pregnancy is to terminate, we offer non-directive services to provide practical information on this option.

Diagnosis of Foetal Anomaly

Receiving a diagnosis of any foetal abnormality is a very distressing and traumatic experience for couples and individuals. You may be feeling overwhelmed with seemingly impossible decisions to be made. Talking it through with a trained counsellor in a safe, confidential space can help.

Unplanned Pregnancy and Men

Men often face particular challenges when they experience a crisis pregnancy. Coping with your own feelings, communication with other people about your situation and dealing with changes in your life or relationship as a consequence of this unplanned event can all be difficult. One Family can also offer you support and counselling.

Unplanned Pregnancy and Adoption

If the decision following unplanned pregnancy is to opt for adoption, we offer on-going support and further professional referrals to help with this decision and process.

Unplanned Pregnancy and Parenting

If your decision is to continue with your pregnancy, we offer on-going support throughout your pregnancy to help you to best prepare for all the changes ahead, whatever your circumstances. We provide particular support for those who have previous childhood experience of the foster/care system and may find the concept of becoming a parent themselves challenging
