Policy
One Family is Ireland’s national organisation for one-parent families. We provide direct support to people parenting alone, sharing parenting or separating. We also lead on policy development and advocacy to address systemic and ongoing barriers facing one-parent families and their children.
Through our policy work, we campaign for structural and societal change, advocating for the rights and needs of one-parent families to government, media, and across wider society. One-parent families continue to be stigmatised and marginalised, and we represent the diversity, needs and ongoing challenges of families to create a more equal, inclusive society.

Advocacy Project
We want to embed the experience and voice of one-parent families in the areas where policy and legislation changes occur. Our advocacy project gives lone parents an opportunity to share your experience and perspective on the social and economic challenges facing one-parent families and what changes you want made to make improvements.
Parents are given the opportunity to work with One Family to develop our policy and advocacy work and also with decision makers in the Dáil, our local councils, government departments and in Europe, as opportunities arise. You must be over 18 to join the project.
