One Family recruit Parent Mentors who have completed training as Relationship Counsellors with Cork University.
The programme was developed by Dr Tony Humphreys and is run over a 4 year part time duration.
One Family trains all of our mentors to be specialists on the issues most affecting one-parent families and people sharing parenting after separation, and the transitions they may go through. If you feel you need support to explore any challenges you experience within your parenting such as feeling stressed, unable to understand your child’s behaviour, difficulty in communication with teens, or any of the many challenges parents can face, this service will help you.
Parent mentoring aims to help you to understand your children’s behaviour and give you the tools to deal with challenging behaviour effectively.
One Family’s parent mentoring service is now available in the following regions:
- Dublin (Smithfield)
- Dublin (Crumlin)
- Dublin (Balbriggan)
- Dublin (south city)
More regions nationally will also be available soon. Our parent mentors receive ongoing training and supervision. Flexible appointments to meet all needs are available. This is a low-cost service charged on a sliding scale from €20-€60.
Parents accessing mentoring support under the Separating Well for Children Project will be offered a free service.
