Data Protection is the safeguarding of the privacy rights of individuals in relation to the processing of personal data. The main laws on data protection are the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679) and the Irish Data Protection Acts, 1988 to 2018 which confer rights on individuals as well as responsibilities on those persons processing personal data.
Purposes of processing your personal data.
When you register to use One Family services you will be asked to provide personal data and information about you and your child. We use the personal data you share with us so we can communicate with you, provide the appropriate services to your child and be equipped to deal effectively with any health and safety issues that may occur while you child is attending One Family. In addition, assessment data will be recorded for the purposes of the evaluation of the efficacy of the therapy. Data will be retained in aggregate anonymised form and may also be used for research purposes. When you decide to register with us you provide this information under the lawful basis of GDPR Article 6 1 (a), and if its special category data GDPR Article 9 2 (a), in that you are giving your explicit consent for the data to be processed for these purposes. One Family undertakes to maintain your personal data in secure conditions with appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it from unauthorised access or use.
Who will see and use this data:
When you provide this data to us you understand that it may be seen and shared with any of the One Family staff who have a role in caring for your child. We will never share your data with any external organisations not directly related to your child’s care, unless we are obliged to do so by law or if there is an emergency situation that would require us sharing your data to prevent injury to your child or another person.
Retention of data:
We keep your personal information for the entire period that your child is attending the service. All personal data will be deleted according to the period stated in our Data Retention Policy. In general we will retain your (child’s) file for a maximum of seven years after the child is aged 18.
Your Rights:
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have a right to access the data that One Family holds about you, to have incorrect information about you corrected, have your personal data erased, and to object to the processing of data. You may contact our Data Protection Officer; email: admin@onefamily.ie to exercise these rights. To ensure your privacy and to protect the integrity of your data, One Family will require that we can verify your identity with photographic ID before releasing, erasing, or correcting your information.
