Lunch & Learn Separation Network Workshop Series-Family Mediation Service

Bring your coffee and sandwich and learn while you lunch!

This workshop will help front line practitioners working with or planning to work with families post separation, in understanding and valuing the role of family mediation in supporting children’s needs post separation.

You will gain a clear understanding of the role of the mediator so in turn you can help parents know what to expect as they engage in the mediation process, supporting them to be ‘mediation ready’ in turn allowing them to gain the most from the mediation space.

You will also gain an understanding of the parallel role front line practitioners can play in ensuring parents have the skills to engage well, allowing them to more effectively reach agreements that ensure best outcomes for children post separation.

Lunch & Learn Separation Network Workshop Series – Legal Aid Board

Bring your coffee and sandwich and learn while you lunch!

This workshop will create a space for front line practitioners to explore the ‘in camera’ rule and how it applies to separated families you work with, who are actively engaged in the family courts, while seeking your support.

The ‘in camera rule’ prohibits parents from talking about what takes place in the family courts, while many front-line services are fundamental in supporting parents as they navigate what often is a long, drawn out and emotional experience, necessitating parents to be permitted to share in confidence what is happening at a family court level.

This workshop will also support you in knowing how best to prepare parents for court and present a clear understanding of the boundaries around court accompaniment for vulnerable parents.

Presenter: Practicing Solicitor
