Every family needs support at some time. Positive Parenting: building strong relationships with children and managing difficult behavior is an innovative and exciting course that provides all those working with families with the tools to design and deliver effective and life-changing parenting courses. The latest dates are 8 – 10 February in Dublin, 22 – 24 March in Dundalk, 10 – 12 May, 4 – 6 October and 29 – 01 November/ December in Dublin.
 

Why this course?

Covering the development of a ten-week Positive Parenting Programme, the training will allow you to effectively support parents in developing successful parenting strategies.  Already working for hundreds of professionals around Ireland, this course is a unique programme with a particular focus on one-parent families.

Understanding families

At One Family we know that families come in all shapes and sizes and in all circumstances, so In addition to looking at key issues facing families as they parent, it also provides additional modules covering topics such as multicultural parenting and bullying, allowing you to develop a course that suits the needs and situation of your particular clients.

Positive Parenting Manual

Have you ever been to a training course and promptly forgotten much of what you have learnt? Positive Parenting comes with a full-colour, easy-to-use, illustrated manual containing all the information and materials you will need to run successful positive parenting courses.
After taking part in this training you will:
  • be able to design and deliver a ten-week Positive Parenting programme for lone parents;
  • understand the theory behind the Positive Parenting manual;
  • be familiar with a range of approaches for managing difficult behaviour in children;
  • be able to support parents in implementing changes to manage their children’s behaviour;
  • know the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child;
  • be able to support parents in developing strategies in whatever parenting situation they find themselves i.e. separating, divorcing, co-parenting or parenting alone; and
  • be able to support one-parent families to talk about their family situation.
Duration: 3 days
Cost:           €450

Requirements: Prior experience of group-work and facilitation skills
A copy of the Positive Parenting manual is included in the cost of the training.
