Counselling

Parenting in a one-parent family means that you must take responsibility for many decisions alone. At times, this can become very stressful. Family or new relationships, parenting alone or working at shared parenting, absent parent, answering your child’s difficult questions, making major choices – these are just some of the issues that arise for one-parent families and you can be supported to work through them in counselling.
Counselling offers you a safe, confidential space to talk through what you are feeling or what is going on for you. The counsellor is supportive and non-judgmental. She is there to really listen to you, to hear what you say and to help you explore and find your own solution. The counsellor trusts in your ability to live your own life and will support you to find your own answers.
The One Family Counselling Service is a confidential and non-judgmental service open to pregnant women and expectant fathers, and to men, women, teenagers and adolescents in one-parent families. We offer a range of appointment times and provide free, on-site childcare for your children in our warm and friendly crèche.
We always try to ensure you are seen as soon as possible, and how often you attend, or for how long, will be decided between you and your counsellor.
We provide professional and non-directive counselling and our counsellors continue in on-going training and supervision to give the best service to you.
